Greetings my loyal fans,
I’ve heard recently that a prominent Mexican food restaurant is being fined over a million dollars for child labor violations. I myself have only tried chipotle once, eating the scraps that my family had left out one night. I don’t understand why chipotle is so popular, having lived in Mexico in the 1920s I am well versed in Mexican cuisine. To say chipotle is Mexican food is a bit of a stretch. The commercialization of foreign foods in America is a double-edged sword. On one hand it offers Americans a chance to experience other cultures, but it usually whitewashes the ethnic food in order to please the American palate. I’ve realized dear readers, that recently I’ve been talking about food a lot in my blog posts and its sadly because your old friend Podrick hasn’t been well fed recently. My mushroom farm is faltering and the family I live with is having economic troubles so I can not justify stealing from them. I try to venture out into the world for my quest of foodstuffs but there is a local cat that seems to take great pleasure in chasing me whenever I leave the house and my hot air balloon would draw way to much attention to use in such a populated area. I cannot risk drawing attention to myself. Anyways, it sickens me that chipotle has been rampantly exploiting child workers. One of the greatest things of the modern age is that children can enjoy their youth, spending time hanging out with friends and educating themselves. To make them work over 40 hours a week, which chipotle is doing, is deeply saddening. No teenager should dedicate such a large portion of their time working. They should be studying and chasing young darlings. Child labor is usually a bigger problem in developing countries, this has no place in America. When I visited India, it saddened me to witness children working full time jobs in order to support their families. It prevents them from educating themselves which will help them get a better job in the future. Whoever, exploits children should be deeply ashamed of themselves. We should be giving to youth instead of squeezing them for every penny they can produce. It is probably my intense love for the children of the world that is responsible to my angry response to hearing this news. The governments of the world should be more dedicated to protecting our children. If countries were to give greater financial assistance to the poor, then less children would have to work. And when less children work; they can go to school and a more educated society is a better society! Old Podrick will try not to get too political, but we need some change. I would like to thank you readers for all of you for your support and love. It does get lonely at times, but the anonymity of the internet allows me to have connections with people. So Farewell and have a safe and happy week.
