The Virus in China

This morning I eavesdropped on the family I live with discussing a new virus that has emerged in china as I was enjoying my morning tea. The news was somewhat disappointing as I was planning a vacation to China soon.  This is quite disheartening because China is one of the only countries I have yet to visit. I’ve always wanted to see the Great Wall of China and the corpse of Mao. While I cannot contract human diseases I’m suspecting the mood in China would be quite dreary, so I’m probably going to be traveling to Indonesia instead. I heard the family saying that it is suspected that exotic meats in the market of china are to blame. They were revolted by the idea of eating bats, which I thought was extremely arrogant. With the right seasoning bat meat is quite delectable. For my 245th birthday I had an astounding bat stew which I will never forget. Hunting is extremely difficult for me due to my small size, so it is unlikely that I will indulge in the delicacy that is bat meat anytime soon.  I encourage you my dear reader, if anyone ever offers you bat meat take it. My love for bat meat has even lead me to write several different leaders to local restaurants asking them if they could add some bat based dishes to their menus. Unfortunately, known of my letters have gotten any responses. Maybe the American consumer is just not ready for bat meat. Anyways, I have witnessed a lot of disease in my long life. It always deeply saddens me as I watch human civilization being devastated by disease. The worst disease I ever witnessed was that of the Spanish Flu. The fear and chaos that the Spanish Flue created was horrifying. A family that I was living with at the time lost a daughter to the disease. That was truly a disheartening experience and easily ruined the decade for me. Fortunately, Only 26 people have died from the virus, which makes me suspect it wont be that devastating. What is concerning is that since our world is so interconnected that disease can spread from country to country with relative ease.  I also heard that China is now limiting transportation between their provinces in order to contain the disease. I think this is a splendid idea and I hope the Chinese government is successful in their endeavors. China does seem to be quite chaotic now considering the Hong Kong protests are still going, so it might be for the best to reschedule my great adventure in China. For now, my heart goes out to the people of China. I can only imagine the fear that you or a loved one will contract this horrible disease.  I also insist you my dear readers to wash your hands and try not to sneeze on anyone as well as to try to avoid being sneezed on at all costs.
